DIPLOMA 5 2011-2012 Editor’s Pick: Ruohong Wu, Atmospheric Anonymity.

Architectural Association School of Architecture

By amid

Following the Unit’s agenda Ru proposed a field of toxic steam that provides protective ground for the active social workers of Beijing. This Social Group fully engaged in the public cultural manifestations disseminates political ideas that are currently censored. The assembly of abandoned industrial buildings, machines and emissions activates in a dual “on/off” state. The different states reconstruct atmospheres as a social contract and creates re-publicness through anonymity. The project works with a contemporary form of life to reinterpret the cultural codes of a social group as an object of study to refer to the context and to respond to the request for a public space.
