Paula Ferruz, student of Escuela de Arquitectura, Universidad Europea de Madrid, directed by Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda, has received Honours (Matricula de Honor) for her PFC project “Hidden Cathedral” (2011-2012) a proposal based in Sao Paolo, right behind Oficina Teather building by Lina Bo Bardi.
Quoting Paula’s description it is a cathedral for the 21st century that has been displaced to Sao Paolo. Therefore the use of this generally liturgical space is completely changed. Brazil is the center of rites and ceremonies that are taxed tribute today to the beauty and the body.
Therefore the project aims to construct a space that can be a mirror and scanner that makes visible this cult of the body and the beauty.
For the construction of this festooned space without ornaments the geometry and the materials are the real ornament. In contrast the exterior image is a landscape that forms a public celebration of urban living space.
